Im really excited to introduce a new staff writer to readers of Redeeming Riches.
Stacy Layman and I belong to the same church.
I had the privilege of working with Stacy on a massive community project called Salt & Light: A Guide to Loving Northwest Indiana.
She was our graphic designer and did a fabulous job bringing life to the guidebook!
Through that, I found out that Stacy had a personal finance blog. So I thought Id ask Stacy to contribute to Redeeming Riches, and thankfully she agreed!

So lets get to know Stacy a little more:
My husband and I experienced 16 months of unemployment.
In that time, we had to get incredibly creative on how to cut costs.
I had several people encourage me to blog some tips and stories, so A Layman’s Guide to Being Thrifty became a formal blog.
I have been blogging those experiences for the past few months.
I have been following Christ fully since I was 20 years old.
I had a lot of head knowledge prior to having a convicting conversation with a friend. Since then, I have been actively pursuing a relationship with Christ and sharing his love to others.
My husband and I, along with our three kids, have been attending Bethel Church in Crown Point, IN since 2007. Im in choir there and serve on Bethels moms group leadership team.
Its my hope that I can share some creative tips on ways to save money.
I thought my husband and I were extremely frugal prior to his unemployment. It was when we faced desperation that we had to brainstorm ways to be even more savvy with our money.
I hope to share our experiences and lessons learned so that readers can apply them to their lives. Some of these tips may be to an extreme, but hopefully it will provoke readers to really see what they can live without.
Ive had so many people tell me they are at the end of their ropes as far as saving money.
They are still finding themselves struggling even though they are doing all that they can. When I mention something weve done, whether by choice or by circumstance, they find additional ways to be thrifty.
I have a love for Wheel of Fortune. I grew up watching it with my grandmother. I tried out for the show in 2004 and made it to the finals, but I was not selected to be on the show.
Thanks Stacy, we look forward to reading more tips from youand hopefully seeing you on Wheel of Fortune some day!
